What it means.
F1 means first filial generation: the direct offspring of two parent lines. Breeders may use carefully developed, stable parents to aim for more uniform plants in the first generation.
The label is a claim about breeding, not a promise of identical outcomes in every garden. Ask what parent lines were used and whether the breeder means a true F1 from established inbred lines or simply a first cross.
READ THE LABEL
Look for a breeder explanation of the parent lines and what was actually tested.
